Why Should Your Team Do Arc Flash & High Voltage Training?
No One Should Be Unsure When Working On Electrical Equipment
Employees should be aware of the electrical hazards at their facility.
Just because employees received technical training to work on the equipment does not mean that they know all the electrical safety hazards.
With a hazard this high you can't afford to be unsure whether your team understands the risks.
That’s why we’ve developed our arc flash & high voltage training course which is designed for industrial electricians, maintenance electricians and high voltage operators.
High voltage operator training helps give your team an added level of awareness.
This course can be offered to your team virtually anywhere or on-site in the USA and Canada.
High voltage training cost will depend on a few different factors, please contact us for more details.

High Voltage Course Objectives
With so many different types of high voltage training courses you want to make sure that the course objectives match your operational needs.
Below is an overview of what will be covered on the first day of the training course:
- Effects of shock & arc flash on the body
- Performing risk assessment during electrical tasks
- Applications of regulations and standards
- Electrical worker responsibilities
- Understanding approach boundaries and setting up the safe work zone
- Establishing an electrically safe work condition
- Energized work Emergency response
- PPE Selection
Below is an overview of what will be covered on the second day of our high voltage electrician safety course:
- Temporary protective grounding
- High voltage & medium voltage safety
- Absence of voltage testing techniques (advanced)
- Electrical maintenance practices for switchgear and transformers
Regular high voltage training will help give your electrical team a better understanding of the hazards they face every day which will make them feel more confident
Understanding the High Voltage Hazards
HV awareness training will help your team in identifying what their daily risks may be as well as choosing appropriate personal protective equipment.
Electrical safety standards discussed will also depend on location such as CSA Z462 in Canada and NFPA 70e electrical worker training for the USA.
On top of going through the high voltage safety training your team will also receive a high voltage certification.
FAQ
Not to worry, we offer high voltage safety training virtually so you can join from anywhere.
OSHA does not have a consistent definition of high voltage. In some places, high voltage refers to anything rated above 600 volts where in other places it is anything above 1000 volts.
The hazards of high voltage are primarily shock hazard and burns. Fundamentally the hazards are the same as low voltage, but the risk of exposure may be higher due to the higher potential of energy released.
When it comes to electrical safety, we use 750 volts as the threshold between high and low voltage. With regards to safety, high voltage introduces the need for temporary protective grounding in order to work on these systems safety.
In order to be deemed qualified to work on HV you need to have the skills and knowledge related to the construction and maintenance of high voltage equipment as well as training on the safety related work practices specific to the work you are performing.
Absolutely, if your workers are not qualified to work on high voltage equipment then you could be held liable for any injuries or fatalities.
