Top 7 Electrical Safety Reminders for 2025

We know... we are a little late with a new year’s list, as it is February. But better late than never for our top seven Safety / Electrical Safety resolutions or reminders for 2025 (In no particular order):

#1 - People’s safety is everything - Being safe to fulfill goals & processes is all well and good, but your safety initiatives should be focused on your people far more than anything else. If you start there, your process, goals and all the rest will be successful.

#2 - Expiration/Renewal dates are among us - Pre-Covid renewal dates are fast approaching... if not already past us by. We all took an in-person break when Covid hit. Which likely means a lot of your Arc Flash Studies and Electrical Safety training probably stalled in 2019/20 for a little bit. As Studies need updating after 5 years and training after 3, there is probably a lot of required renewals out there. Get Updated! Reach out to us to get a new arc flash study. ​

#3 - Focus on leadership – Leaders must care about safety. If they don’t you best believe they aren’t leading for the right reasons. Consider how your management team is leading from the front, if safety isn’t always part of the conversation, you have to adjust.

#4 - Virtual training is better than ever – I know… virtual training doesn’t sound exciting at all. Screens, mics, mute, time zones… all things that lead to some pretty unengaged and awkward moments. Not to mention the wall of words slide decks we have all been forced to read. Trust me, here at Leaf we have done a lot of work to take our virtual sessions to the next level. #5 - Wear the appropriate PPE – Yes, we are all one year older with an extra year of experience. But as our podcast guest Mike Bahr once said, “Electricity doesn’t give a damn about you”. He said that in 2023, and it’s the same in 2025. Wear your PPE always. That will be on our list in 26, 27, 28 & beyond so get used to hearing about PPE. Mike's Episode and Our PPE Chart. ​

#6 - Don’t let safety plans collect dust – This isn’t just for Electrical Safety Plans. Often we hear people just aren’t using their plans or they just have a copied version of the latest standard. If you are taking the time to build your plans… please implement them. It is worth it. If your plan just doesn’t work, make a change, it is easier than you think. #7 - Safety Conferences are back - Again, with Covid well behind us the in-person conference is truly back, and this year there are many good ones. Message me back if you want to hear about the ones we are considering.
